Has Public Education Changed Since the 1970's?

In my Harry Chapin tribute. Here is one of my favorite Harry songs "Flowers Are Red". The youtube user doesn't allow the video to be embedded. So click on the link to view the introduction and song.

The question is Has Public Education Changed Since the late 70's and early 80's?

Tough question since I went to private school, but I would venture to guess that it has changed along with the rest of the world. Some good changes and some bad changes, but as always, there are wonderful teachers who inspire children to grow and horrible teachers who force children to fit.

I am not sure much has changed. When I hear the kids talk about school, it seems like the same place I left in 1978. It looks the same too. While the workforce has moved from electric typewriters to a computer at every desk and a cell phone in every pocket, they still carry books. Oh, I guess many kids have cell phones and ipods, but not sure how they are used for education.
Sorry to sound so negative, but education is just not what it should be to get kids ready for today's workforce.
