O.k. if the 15 year old student rode a school bus to and from school. That bus likely carries students to a feeder elementary school and/or a feeder high school.
So, will Knox County Health Department have the bus cleaned and sterilized? Has school officials even considered that?

Brian,
ReplyDeleteSwine flu (H1N1) is transmitted person to person. I doubt there's any reason to sterilize the school bus, altho a good cleaning probably wouldn't hurt if only just for general purposes (especially if it was anything like the school buses I rode in as a kid).
Also, flu (any flu) is caused by a virus which are pretty hardy compared to bacteria caused diseases. So sterilazation may not be practical.

The bus is just a Big-O-Germ-Factory but I know some drivers do spray it down with disinfectant daily. And yes, if they are going to the trouble of disinfecting the school - the buses should be included. We called as soon as we got the voice message and the answer was "I don't think anyone has thought of that".
ReplyDeleteMy other concern was if those kids have younger siblings that go to A L Lotts or Rocky Hill..........well - there you go.
Rest assured, the lovely transportation dept scrambled today to make the bus owners come pick up cleaners. Most contractors responded that they had already cleaned their buses due to the outbreak and were way ahead of the transportation dept. Just so you know.....
