What Am I Missing?

So, Jimmy Haslam steps down as CEO to become Chairman of the Board of the national but locally owned truck refueling centers. The company hires a former PepsiCo Executive as it's CEO. Why is it such BIG local news?

It was expected that as Jimmy Haslam becomes an NFL owner that he would not be able to keep up with all the slushy machine breakdowns.

  1. Compton is a Tennessee guy, graduated from UTK back in the big 80s, may have been from Chattanooga, would know Corker and the rest of the East Tennessee Republican brass on a first name basis.

Would have a background in munchies, mountain dew, and snacks, basic hallmarks of the Pilot empire. Probably would know how to call Jimmy for suggestions on what to do and how to do it without much difficulty.

Probably a pretty good move for Compton, assuming he is up to the task and can avoid any significant issues/can win the support of the troops that make Pilot go.

Also have experience with fastfood restaurants like KFC and Taco Bell, and is Pizza Hut still Pepsico?

  3. KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut are owned by Yum Brands in Louisville, Kentucky. While you may find Pepsi pour rights in KFC, Taco Bell, or Pizza Hut, Yum Brands owns all of these brands, not Pepsico.

Compton also serves on the board of First Tennessee and all of the Pilot/Haslam money is housed at that bank one way or another.
