Law Department Attorney, Did He Disclose His Conflict?

It seems law department attorney Daniel Sanders has interrupted the will and belief of the Knox County Commission in it's 2010 vote. Sanders has moved the law department from advisory in nature to it's client (Knox County Government) to a policy making body. Sources close to several Knox County Commissioners indict that several are not happy and have contacted Law Director Joe Jarret who is in Florida on family matters.

The conflict is that Daniel Sanders immediate and extended family are part of the community members that have consistently opposed the Midway Business Park and are opposing the sale to KaTom. Is Sanders motive to protect his families land at the expense of jobs and economic growth of the entire community?

Once again Brian, thanks for pointing this out.

I found it perplexing the county had switched on this.

I was for the new Carter school, but there has to be some give and take and some growth of the tax base in that area. Right now the tax base is grown in the west and the north of the county.

I would like things to stay as they were in the 1970s when I was growing up in Knoxville, but that's not realistic.

Chattanooga is growing large job makers and now Roane County. Knox has I40, I81 and I75, 3, yes 3 interstates going through it and is holding itself back.

This also sends the wrong message to prospective businesses and companies. One it shows the county will switch rather than fight, and two it shows the county would rather placate a small section of the county instead of making the county more attractive to industry.

Never heard of Sanders until I read on Donila's blog that Brian "Genius" Paone thought he should be law director. Knew that was bad karma. So turns out that Sanders broke the law. Fire him. That is a violation of the county charter.

Thankfully, a business like Holston Gases has enought COMMON SENSE to reuse a blighted property for some good and building a new sight. I'm glad that some things aren't just about building new to look good to the news. Thanks to common local business we might go in the right direction. And Burchett might just up and sell the Midway property. Just wait. The man is doing this county so much deserved justice.
