Thursday January 13, 2005 I had the honor to be a guest on The Marilyn Loeffel Morning talk show on KWAM Am 990 Family Values Radio in Memphis, TN. From 7-8:30 am CT we discussed the forced consolidation of school districts. In 1987 the Knox County School System was forced to consolidate the Knoxville City School System into the Knox County system. This consolidation is still not seamless.
For the third year in a row, "King Willie" Willie Herneton the Mayor of Memphis is advocating that Memphis City turn over the school system to Shelby County. This forced consolidation will create the 12 largest school district in the nation.
On the program Mrs. Loeffel played a quote of "King Willie" saying "I maybe guilty of leading people somewhere they do not want to go" This should not surprise anyone, however it should be played over and over. The Marilyn Loeffel show and AM 990 can be found at www.am990.com
