Hornback to Seek Knox County GOP Chairmanship

For Immediate Release

Knoxville, TN - Former Knox County School Board member and long time Republican activist Brian Hornback announced today that he will seek the nomination to replace Chad Tindell as Knox County Republican Party Chairman. Tindell, who has served since 2002, has announced that he will not seek re-election.

"After much soul searching, I am prepared to serve my party as chairman," said Hornback.

"We just re-elected President George W. Bush, but there is still ongoing work to be done. Our party needs to develop more organized grassroots networks and provide high tech solutions to our party's candidates. We need to be a more inclusive party while preserving and expanding the number of local offices we hold," Hornback added.

"Chairman Tindell has done an excellent job providing us the tools to be the party I know it can be, and I look forward to working with our Republican officeholders and executive committee members to take the party to the next level," Hornback stated

Hornback served the 5th School Board district from September 2000 until August 2004. During this time he served in various capacities including the Knox County School Board Vice-Chairman and Legislative Chairman. He also served as the East District Federal Relations Network Coordinator and Board of Director with the Tennessee School Boards Association. He has previously served three years as a member and Chairman of the Knox County Jail Inspection Committee and three years as a member of the Knox County Sheriff's Merit Board.

Hornback currently serves as a board member of the Knoxville Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Concord Recreation Committee. He coaches Upward Soccer for first and second grade boys and Upward Basketball for third and fourth grade girls. He is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association.

Hornback and his wife have been married for 16 years, they have three children and are active members of First Baptist Church of Concord.
