Knox County citizen Dan Andrews sat through Knox County Commission for six hours tonight. He had signed up for public forum before 2:00 p.m. After six hours Commissioner Brad Anders acknowledged that Andrews was the only non media, non taxpayer funded individual in the audience. He asked that Andrews be allowed to speak before any further commission business.
Andrews spoke about public forum and how it is unnecessary to make some one wait six hours to address the commission. Commissioner Briggs and Lambert had an excellent idea and presented it to commission. It will advance to the Rules Committee and is likely to be implemented next month. Here is the idea. If a citizen wants to speak at 2:00 p.m. and sign up for 2:00 p.m. then they will be heard. If a citizen signs up and wants to speak at 3:25 p.m. as soon as an item being dealt with by commission is concluded and as close to 3:25 p.m. that citizen will be heard at that time.
Today is Dan Andrews birthday. Instead of Knox County citizens giving him a birthday present, Andrews has given all of us a BIG present.
