Wamp Makes An Impact In Haslam's Front Yard

Yesterday, Knox County Commission began discussing the Guns in Parks Resolution. Congressman Zach Wamp was in town and came through the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building where the County Commission was meeting. Commissioner Greg "Lumpy" Lambert made the comment while he had the microphone "Maybe Congressman Wamp will speak to this issue" He didn't need to. County Commission approved the Guns in Parks resolution by a vote of 13-5. Sources on the East Side of the sixth floor informed us that Mayor Haslam was hiding in his office on the sixth floor as his gubernatorial campaign hit the ditch.

Commissioner Ed Shouse was away. His father has recently passed away. Our prayers and thoughts are with Commissioner Shouse at this time.

Bill Haslam Speak...It's Confusing to Everyone Except Bill Part II

Hat Tip to Say Uncle

Bill Haslam Speak...It's Confusing to Everyone Except Bill

Brian's Blog has reported that Bill Haslam is for something before he is against something before he is for something again. He also uses the word "probably" a lot. But now it is so obvious that the product produced by the Big Metal Shed on the Hill has reported it. Check out Hayes Hickman's article, here.

Here is the BIG 'ole fat bottom line in Knoxville, TN. If you take your family to a city park and if you are a law abiding handgun carry permit holder. You have NO way to protect your family from individuals that would commit acts of violence (rob, rape or murder) on you or your family.

As a refresher, here is a video of Bill Haslam and what he would do with additional lottery proceeds. Remember he has been running for more than 6 months and Tom Ingram has been on staff for several months. They have a platform for what they will do. Right? Right? Probably!

Swimming In Sky by Inman Majors

I spent a portion of today finishing the book Swimming In Sky by Inman Majors. The story is set in Knoxville, primarily West Knox County. The character Jason Sayers travels to Concord and through West Knox County. He also travels to visit his extended family in the Winchester and Huntland area. The story is about a guy out of school spending the summer trying to find himself. The author Inman Majors was raised in Knoxville in the Cedar Bluff area.

Majors has authored Swimming in Sky, Wonder Dog and The Millionaires. I can thank my friend Jake Mabe for recommending this book and the author Inman Majors to me. I have Wonder Dog and will read it in the near future.

Hammond and Saunders, It's Your Fault!

There was a front page story on the product produced by the Big Metal Shed on the Hill. The story was about Law Director Bill Lockett and the pay raises he has received the past two years. Commissioners Finbarr Saunders and Mike Hammond are wanting to have Lockett explain what his role and duties have been since May. Commission and School Board have both said that they do not want Lockett's advice. That is show. Because Bill Lockett is Joe Jarett's immediate supervisor. Jarett is the legal counsel for County Commission, if he doesn't adhere to his immediate supervisor's instruction. Jarett could be terminated for insubordination. Same with Marty McCampbell, legal counsel for the School Board. She must adhere to direction of Law Director Bill Lockett of she too could be terminated for cause.

Now, the salary of the Law Director is set by State Statute. But Commissioners Hammond and Saunders should have seen where the salary line item was more in the FY 2010 budget than the FY 2009 budget and should have requested the budget line item justification for each line item in every department including the law department. So, County Commission approved Lockett's pay raise when they approved the budget in June. For Hammond and Saunders to question it two months after the budget year began demonstrates their inability to do their job effectively and efficiently.

CTV Needs To Cut A Show

I haven't watched CTV past 9:00 p.m. in a long time. I endured it tonight and I have a a message to Community Television of Knoxville. You folks down at CTV need to cut the Friday night 9 p.m. Call in Live Show. The show is One on One with Hubert Smith. During the 8:30 p.m. hour Politics Knox with Host City Councilman Steve Hall is broadcast live and receives multiple calls every week. Smith probably requested his show be aired at 9:00 p.m. hoping to gain the loyal dedicated viewers and callers of Politics Knoxville. Tonight, Smith received NO phone calls. So, it is time for CTV to cut the embarrassment of his self promotion of his Sunday morning radio show.

CTV should encourage Laurie Alford to do a weekly call in show on Education issues. The first Friday of each month, Politics Knox has allowed Laurie Alford to do a Politics Knox Education show. The past 5 months have proven that Alford is far more engaging and informative to the community than Smith's self promoting show. So, come on CTV put the One on One show elsewhere and give the 9:00 p.m. slot to an engaging, educated and informative host.

Smith ended the show tonight by saying "I enjoy sitting here running my mouth uninterrupted" Well, you may but we don't.

It's ON!

You Democrats in Congress can take that vote today and stick it on or in yourself where ever you please. You political opportunist want to try and paint Joe Wilson as the Head Racist cause he is from the South and he speaks truth. Just because you thinking in your heart racist thoughts which causes you to alege it everytime. That doesn't make Joe racist for speaking truth.

So, to all you wacky, whiny, left wing Democrats, I have two words like Joe. But they're not the same two words. My two words are IT'S ON!

He Is Still Speaking Truth..They Still Think It's HELL

Meet The Other Half of Our Joe

He Is Our Joe

Haslam Not Ready For Any Office

Take 2:47 and you will see what many of us have known for sometime, Bill Haslam is not ready for prime time. He has been running for 6 months and can't answer fundamental questions.

No One Wants To Watch Billy Boy Haslam

It has been brought to our attention by a fellow blogger that if you look at Bill Haslam and Zach Wamp's respective youtube channels. You will see that 6 months in, only 101 views have watched the Welcome to Bill Haslam. com video. Our colleague blogger is responsible for 30 of the 101 views. If you look at all the videos on Zach Wamp 2010 channel page, nearly everyone of them have more than 25o views.

Now, we know that the Bill Haslam campaign will instruct the employees of the City of Knoxville and Pilot Corporation to go out and view his video over the next couple of days. So, Brian's Blog is actually completing a public service in allowing Haslam to make it look like he is a credible candidate.

I Can Do Bad All By Myself

Last evening immediately following the TN butt whooping, the wife and I met real good friends over at Regal Pinnacle 18 at Turkey Creek. We went to the 7:50 p.m. showing of I Can Do Bad All By Myself. The latest Tyler Perry movie. I bought the tickets during the football game on fandango.com so there was no waiting in line.

Several years ago on opening night of The Diary of a Mad Black Woman, I convinced my wife and some great friends to go see the movie. That was no a wrong decision and since that time we have been on opening weekend of each and every Tyler Perry movie release.

This movie has a great message as all Tyler Perry movies do. It is well worth the price of admission. Go see it, if you need a preview, here's the website link and a video preview is below.

Why Zach Is My Guy..The Knoxville Guy Doesn't Have The Backbone or Intestinal Fortitude

Tank The Disloyal Republican Commissioners

The issue of the disloyal Republican Commissioners voting for a Democrat for Commission Chairman ain't going away. At least in Richard Briggs district, it ain't. Read here about the Concord Farragut Republican Club meeting from last night.

Briggs, you probably want to save your cash and not even bother. Then again many people will enjoy beating you at the ballot box. So, Run Ricky Run!

Bill Haslam's "People" Are Not As Smart As They Act

Here is what is funny, Brian Hornback and Brian's Blog have been getting comments and emails about the Brian's Blog coverage of Bill Haslam. What is so funny, is that with site meter on the blog, we have the ip addresses of where and when comments are posted. They are all coming from City of Knoxville and Pilot Corporate Office ip addresses. We will post later about the specific claims made in a later post.

Bill Haslam - Needs to Take a Stand

Bill Haslam as Mayor of Knoxville is the presiding officer of the Knoxville City Council for that reason what he believes is often revealed in the council's actions or in actions. Now, the most current issue is Guns in Parks. The Mayor in concert with Council got the Council Attorney Charles Swanson to opine that a 1980's Council ordinance supersedes last years Private Act of the Tennessee General Assembly. One, that is the worst legal opinion in the history of the state. Second grade civics class teaches us that Federal law supersedes State law and State law supersedes Local law. Swanson would have gotten away with it, until City Councilman Steve Hall asked for a public hearing and vote to allow Guns in Parks.

Here is a history of Billy Boy Haslam. He signed an anti gun pledge with Mayor Bloomberg back a few years ago. As he began running for Governor, he rescinded that pledge. Now, the pro second amendment constituents are asking for this professed gun advocate to take a stand. He hides behind his council and the paid council attorney.

So, while he ducks, dodge and attempts to avoid the issue. The issue will require the youngest boy of the gas price gouging retailer to take either a pro second amendment or an anti second amendment stand. Come on, Bill, man up!

East TN Media Roundup Reaction to Obama's Propaganda

WBIR, here. WVLT Volunteer TV, here. Brian Hornback of Brian's Blog is featured in the WVLT story. It is Must See TV. No story found on WATE's website. Will Jack McElroy have a story about the POTUS "Education Speech" that is a member of his Democrat Party?

WVLT has an online poll, here. Do you want your child to hear President Barack Obama's message to students Tuesday? The Poll Results as of 9:15 p.m. September 4, 2009 : Yes - 21.0%; No - 74.0%; No opinion/ neither for nor against - 5.0%

Commissioner Briggs NEEDS To Be Punished Like The "Spoiled Brat" He Is

Commissioner Briggs recuses himself one week, the next week he acts like he doesn't understand what a recusal is. Dr. Briggs, you are not that stupid, you played one on Thursday, but you are not "that" stupid. He went against the Republican Party on the position of the Charter Amendments, he went against his Republican colleague and district mate for Chairman. Briggs has a lot of money from being a heart doctor, but he can be sure of one thing. The Fifth District Republicans are coming after him next year. So, he better enjoy his one and only term on County Commission. Don't take the word of Brian's Blog, watch his Larry Smith impersonation below.

President's Tuesday Speech, Exempt Your Child From The Activity

Here according to Michelle Malkin is an announcement that President Obama will be making a speech on Tuesday September 8, 2009 to all schoolchildren. Malkin has detailed a teacher guide to direct the class discussion before, during and after the speech.

A simple note to your child's teachers and Principal to allow your student to attend a study hall where the speech is not to be broadcast should suffice for your child to be excluded from this propaganda.

Brian's Blog recommends contacting the Knox County School Superintendent's office tomorrow or Friday asking how to opt out your child from this activity. The Superintendent's office email address is here or call 865-594-1620.

The Fallout From The County Commission Chairman Selection

Commissioner Tony Norman may have generated himself an opponent due to his inability to support Craig Leuthold for County Commission Chairman. Sources indicate some third district residents are encouraging former County Commissioner Frank Leuthold to consider challenging Norman next year.

The inability of the members of the Republican Party to stick together is what keeps the Democrats in gaining additional seats and maintaining the leadership of the Commission, City Council and School Board.

Republican Party Chairman Ray Jenkins and Former Republican Party Chairman Gerald Turner did a great job of encouraging Republican unity among the Republican Commissioners. Unfortunately, the Republican Commissioners are not convinced the party can punish them or help them.
