Sources indicate that Mayor Tim Burchett has appointed Knox County Sheriffs Department Employee Todd Cook to the Hallsdale Powell Utility District Board.
Cook is a participant in the Knox County Sheriffs Department pension plan. Now, he will collect an additional $300 per month to serve on the HPUD Board.
Sources in the Halls community indicate that Cook grew up with HPUD President Darren Cardwell through his early school days in Halls. In addition, sources indicate that Cook has NO experience with the operation of a utility district.

Are you surprised?
Brian, I appreciate your comments but in fairness, how many folk would have experience with operations of a utility district?
At least he didn't pick Hutchison. I couldn't believe that the HPUD board actually chose Hutchison as one of the choices for the board.
Hutchison had experience with utility districts when he was in the construction business before being Sheriff. Also, the third applicant retired from KUB. This appointment was about cronies protecting cronies.
The appointment was about consolidating, controlling and protecting the turf at HPUD. Nothing more or less. HPUD holds the cards teh way the appointment process is structured. These idiots have overspent and overreached and are feeling heat. Not a single management level person there would have escaped firinf if HPUD was managed like a real business.
