My Grandfathers Son by Clarence Thomas

In addition to my regular daily activities today, I read “My Grandfathers Son” a memoir of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. I remember following the confirmation hearing for Justice Thomas. I remember the outrage I felt in witnessing the United States Senate led by rogue Senator Joseph Biden smear and slime a man of Clarence Thomas character and integrity.

Knowing the history that Clarence Thomas was confirmed only months earlier to the D.C. Court of Appeals on a unanimous voice vote of the Senate. Not one allegation of wrongdoing was ever mentioned or brought forward. But here he was being slimmed by a group that included Senator Ted Kennedy. The same Ted Kennedy that was driving intoxicated and drove off a bridge leaving a woman companion in the car as she and the car sank in the water.

The liberal left was able to get a young woman to come forward to allege incidents that were never proven, even with her supposed witnesses. Recently, while going through some files. I letters from our own Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr and that liberal bastion known as the former Tennessee Democrat Senator Jim Sasser in response to my letter supporting Clarence Thomas appointment to the United States Supreme Court. The record should reflect that the liberal Senator was defeated in his next election.

The book itself is a great read, revealing the real Clarence Thomas. It exposes the lies of the liberal left about his motive and his rise to the Supreme Court. He was raised by his grandfather and his grandfather’s wife known as Aunt Tina. His grandfather kept him and his brother busy, thus keeping them out of trouble so that they would not wind up as the “others” had. His mother was always nearby but he saw his father only a few times in his life.He still lives with the guilt of “letting his grandfather down” on two incidents in his life.

His grandfather was not able to witness his grandsons rise to the Supreme Court, but most assuredly his grandfather would have been proud.

I am so thankful that Justice Thomas wrote this book as it will be the counter and the correction to the lies of the liberal left and that young, immature lady that the liberal left used to slim and slander Clarence Thomas during the confirmation process.

Playing for Pizza

I have just completed the latest work of John Grisham. I am a BIG fan of Grisham, I have the entire Grisham library. His latest is a novel entitled Playing for Pizza. It is a great read. The story is about a guy that loves what he does but needs a break from his current surroundings and current conditions.

He finds more than he bargains for. I especially like Chapter 21 where he gets finally changes the critical reporter that has hounded him. The stories from the reporter changed remarkably.

It is a quick and enjoyable read.

If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans

Immediately after finishing Terry McAuliffe's book yesterday morning. I had to cleanse my mind from the excessive liberal printed verbage. So, I began reading Ann Coulter's latest If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans and I finished it this morning.

A most excellent book that will not be gifted as it will have to remain in my office. Both Terry McAuliffe and Ann Coulter both have said, in different ways I might add. That if your opponents are mad, foaming at the mouth and calling you names then you are doing your job.

Now, I understand why the liberal reporters that are earning their paychecks from the owner of the liberal papers print lies about me.

Ann Coulter always good, This book is no exception.

What A Party!

Yesterday morning I finished reading Terry McAuliffe's book, What a party. It was a great read. While nearly every liberal will be shocked that I would read the book. It exposed the problems within the Democrat party. Terry does a good job of showing the Clinton's in a real world, real people kind of way.

It is interesting to see what Terry McAuliffe did for the party. He took it from a organization in debt, to a party with the infrastructure to compete. The only problem is he could not change the morons within the party. During the 2004 campaign, the Kerry campaign did not involve its Chairman in any discussion or decisions after the Convention. While the Republicans involved their Chairman in constant meetings.

Terry McAuliffe while personal friends of Bill and Hill also states that Clinton's last minute pardon of Mark Rich was wrong.

I would recommend this book to political junkies and bleeding heart liberal (i.e. Democrats) I plan to give the book as a Christmas gift to a true bleeding heart liberal.

Battle Cry for a Generation by: Ron Luce

The youth pastor of my church recommended a book to every parent, grandparent or adult member of our church. The book is Battle Cry for a Generation.

After having read this book, it is obvious that Ron Luce understands today’s teenager and most importantly he has been able to articulate the struggles and fight that teenager’s face today.

Knoxville, TN unfortunately made it in the book on page 50 of Chapter 2 entitled Know Your Enemy. This chapter deals with the tidal wave of today’s media, Television and movies, The Internet, Music, Video Games. The story on Knoxville records that a “$246 million lawsuit was filed against the designer , marketer, and a retailer of the video game series Grand Theft Auto by the families of two people shot by teenagers (in Knoxville, TN) who were apparently inspired by the game. The suit claims that marketer Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., designers Take-Two Interactive Software and Rockstar Games, and Wal-Mart are liable for $46 million in compensatory damages and $200 million in punitive damages. Aaron Hamel, 45, a registered nurse, was killed. Kimberly Bede, 19, of Montea, Virginia, was seriously wounded when their cars were hit on June 25 by a .22-caliber bullets as they passed through the Great Smoky Mountains. Stepbrothers William Buckner, 16, an Joshua Buckner, 14, of Newport, were sentenced in August to an indefinite term in state custody after pleading guilty in juvenile court to reckless homicide, endangerment, and assault. The boys told investigators they got the rifles from a locked room in their home and decided to randomly shoot at tractor-trailer rigs, just like players do in the video game Grand Theft Auto 3.”

With all the school shootings and the decay of our society, it is time for all of us to step up and lead the next generation. To do anything less is to destroy our society.

This is a must read for all adults that care about our future.

Conservatize Me

This past weekend I finished reading the book Conservatize Me by John Moe. John Moe set out on a thirty day experiment to expose himself to everything Conservative to see if he could be converted.

At times it was a funny read. Everything from Toby Keith -vs- The Dixie Chicks. To his list of questions to Charlie Daniels about the song "The Devil Went Down To Georgia." He met Bill Kristol to understand Neo-Conservatism -vs- Conservatism. He visited the place in America that voted 92% for George W. Bush and it wasn't Blount County, TN. His conversation with the Mayor of the 92% town is interesting, in that conversation it reveals that all Conservatives do not drink the same kool-aid.

The real eye opener was his visits to Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon's libraries. The Reagan library didn't reveal how Reagan became a Conservative or what positions made Reagan a Conservative. They avoid his 1976 loss in the Republican Presidential Primary. Whereas, the Nixon library exposed why Nixon was a Conservative, revealed his losses as well as his wins. Nixon was a leader that kept leading before and after the White House. That is why, I have always believed and respected the Nixon brand of Conservatism instead of other brands. Nixon always had substance.

While I didn't expect John Moe to become a Conservative. What I believe he realized is that you can be a Conservative and not buy the whole burrito or only drink the one cup of kool-aid. Just like Baskin Robbins there are 96 varieties of Conservatism.

Tearing Down the Walls

I just finished reading the book, Tearing Down The Walls written by Monica Langley. It is the fascinating story of Sandy Weill. Sandy Weill is the single biggest player in Wall Street history. Sandy Weill's life has had its ups and downs and to see how he came from virtually no where to the most recognizable name in the financial services industry is amazing.


The book has been on the streets for about three years. Monica Langley also has Knoxville, TN roots. In her acknowledgements she credits the visits with her mother to the Knoxville, TN public libraries.

If you are at all interested in the workings of Wall Street or the financial services industry. I would recommend this book. Sandy Weill is colorful and a great read. Monica Langley did a great job detailing his life.

Ministry Mutiny - Greg Stier

One morning driving to work I was listening to the Morning Bob Bell Show on Joy 62. Bob asked a trivia question, I knew the answer and called in and WON. What I won was a Pastor prize pack. A great DVD and a book entitled Ministry Mutiny by Greg Stier.

I have just finished reading it and it is a great book. It begins with a youth pastor prepared and ready to resign. As he is preparing to submit his resignation he meets another youth pastor. One with many years of experience over the next six days he shares with our main character six different principles of committing ministry mutiny.

The principles are presented in a youth ministry perspective. However, you can incorporate these six principles in your work, family and everyday life as well.

There are divine appointments in our everyday life and we should always be looking for them and recognizing them for what they are divine. There is a benefit in seeking out a mentor and a younger person that we can invest our time, energy and insight into.

I am grateful that I was listening to Bob Bell that morning as I listen nearly every morning and that I received this free gift of the book. I will be sharing this book with others.

The Final Days – Barbara Olson

A gentleman that I had just met asked if I had read the book by the woman that was killed in the airplane crash of 9/11. I knew that Barbara Olson had written two books Hell to Pay and The Final Days. I had not read either book.

The gentleman loaned me “The Final Days. The Last Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House” within one day I had read the book. It is an appropriate time to read this book that was published in late 2001.

First, a little history Barbara Olson had completed the manuscript prior to boarding a plane for Los Angeles on September 11, 2001. She had approved the final draft. However, she never got the chance to see the book in print or autograph one copy. She unfortunately was on one of four airplanes that began America’s Defense on Terror. Her plane crashed into the Pentagon.

The publisher’s wrestled with whether to publish the book or not. However, it is a story that would have never been told had Barbara Olson not told it and the story needed to be recorded for all eternity.

It documents the Clinton administration (Puff Billy and H.Rod – a Gangsta love story) and the final pardons, commuted sentences, executive orders and all around misdeeds. No president (and his co-president as Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton likes to be referred to as) in the history of our nation has issued as many executive orders, pardon’s and commuted sentences. The most egregious was the pardon of a fugitive of justice, a “man” (using the term loosely) that was too cowardly to stand before a jury of his peers. A “man” that while safe on land outside the U.S.A renounced his citizenship. However, “Slick Willy” and as the liberal New York Observer called her “Slick Hillie” pardoned Mark Rich.

Why?

Because his ex-wife Denise Rich gave $1.2 million to the DNC (Democrat National Committee), $75,000.00 to Senator Hillary’s first Senate campaign and $45,000.00 to the Clinton Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. Here is Chuck Schumer the colleague from New York of “Senator Shoplift” (Newsday) said about the Mark Rich pardon. “To my mind, there can be no justification for pardoning a fugitive from justice. It does not matter that the fugitive believed the case against him was flawed or weak. It does not matter that the fugitive was enormously philanthropic. Pardoning a fugitive stands our justice system on its head and makes a mockery of it. One of the great strengths of our criminal justice system is that it is just that, a system. By allowing someone to choose to opt out of that system by fleeing and then opts into that system to get a pardon perverts the entire system entirely.”

Here is what Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee said about it then” I think people are beginning to feel that the bridge to the 21st century is a toll bridge that people have to pay to get across.” Huckabee went on to say “If they [the pardons] look suspicious to James Carville, I think it’s fair to say to say they look suspicious to everybody.”

110 People Who Are Screwing Up America (And Al Franken is #37) -Bernard Goldberg

First I read Bias.

Over Christmas/New Years or Spring Break 2007 I read Arrogance.

Someone emailed me and said you really need to read 100 People Who Are Screwing America. I put it on the list.

Fortunately for me the paperback was released and the book title changed to 110 People meaning (for those of you in Vonore) that an additional 10 people were added to the list.

It is a great read and I was shocked about a few people that made the list. However in great Goldberg fashion he makes the case and after reading the reason you can’t dispute the listing.

Now, I now have an idea.
