Knox County School Board Retreat

The Knox County School Board met in workshop retreat the past two days. The meeting was scheduled to conclude at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. At about 45 minutes prior to the 2:30 scheduled conclusion. The School Board lost its quorum when 5 members individually walked out.

More details as they develop.

Maybe they just had to hurry to other activities.

So who walked out?

Is it normal for SB members to walk out of a meeting before it's scheduled close? And why a "retreat?" Can't the SB meet here in town without the expense of a retreat? Most retreats I know of are overnight affairs with travel, lodging, and meals paid for (of course paid for by the taxpayers of Knox Co.). Given the recent scrutiny of the Knox Co. Commission, the Mayor's office, etc., it is surprising that the SB would be off at a retreat at taxpayer's expense. Perhaps it's time to take a look at their expenditures!!!!!!!!

No my sources indicate that an incident caused them to become aggravated and leave.

Without saying who said what, can you say what topic is so contentious?
