Criminal & Fourth Circuit Court Clerk

This race pitted the incumbent clerk Martha Phillips with a challenger Gail Jarvis. Judge Jarvis served 8 years as a Knox County General Sessions Judge, 8 years ago she opted to challenge Democrat Criminal Court Judge Richard Baumgartner. The Democrats had a good year in 1998, capturing all 4 of the county-wide races.

This race started at the last minute. Jarvis had picked up her petition the day before the deadline and returned it the day of the deadline. However, both candidates were ready to campaign and that they did.

At the end of the day on election day, Martha Phillips was re-elected. Congratulations to Clerk Phillips.

Our party is the Majority party and we have excellent candidates to make us stronger. As Iron Sharpens Iron.
