The Knox County Republican Party had 3 candidates in this race. The former Judge Brenda Waggoner made the decision to step down due to health concerns and the Knox County Commission selected Judge Jimmy Kyle Davis. All three candidates worked hard and took their message to the voters, on Tuesday night Andrew Jackson VI had a slight edge and going into the paper ballot counting no one knew how it would turn out as Jackson and Davis were within a few hundred votes of one another. As the paper ballots were completely tabulated. Mr. Jackson increased his lead and won the seat.
All three candidates are good guys, all three would have made great Republican judges. It is unfortunate that we had our three top, best and brightest, running for the same seat. I believe these three could have and would have taken out a couple of Democrat judges and one would be elected to this seat.
Congratulations to Jackson. He has Democrat opposition on August 3, 2006, so vote early July 14 - 29, 2006 or on August 3, 2006 and cast a vote for Andrew Jackson, VI.
